Bisazza Foundation: in Vicenza a cultural space dedicated to contemporary architecture

If you take the car and travel a few kilometers outside Vicenza, towards Montecchio Maggiore, you can immerse yourself in an exhibition space dedicated to contemporary design and architecture, which is unique in the area.
A far-sighted conversion project of a former production area, curated by the architect Carlo Dal Bianco, welcomes the Bisazza Foundation, a private non-profit organization open to the public, commissioned by the Bisazza family in 2012, to host the heritage of works created in time in collaboration with several artists and designers.
The project was born from the attention and sensitivity towards the culture of design and architecture that have always animated the family and the company itself. The vocation of this truly exclusive exhibition space is twofold: to collect the works and installations created with the famous mosaics, the result of an entrepreneurial bet by Renato Bisazza in the fifties, to become an active cultural subject, in constant interaction with international institutions to host exhibitions itinerant, design and architecture projects, not necessarily linked to the mosaic.
Inside, the permanent collection is welcomed in the generous spaces (about 7,500 sq m), it is made up of installations designed by internationally renowned designers such as: Tord Boontje, Aldo Cibic, Sandro Chia, Jaime Hayon, Arik Levy, Alessandro Mendini, Fabio Novembre , Mimmo Paladino, John Pawson, Andrée Putman, Ettore Sottsass, Studio Job, Patricia Urquiola, Marcel Wanders and Richard Meier.
In addition to the collection, there is an area entitled, “Architectural Photography“, which houses works signed by authoritative figures from the world of photography such as: Berenice Abbott, Gabriele Basilico, Roland Fischer, Candida Höfer, Julius Shulman and Hiroshi Sugimoto. In another room there are some shots taken for the Foundation by the famous Japanese contemporary photographer, Nobuyoshi Araki.
You just have to check the next openings, this stage really deserves: you will find yourself immersed in a parallel, magical universe, oversized chairs, a very long table with sparkling colors, fish, hearts, ladles, forks and much more.
